Castlebury Ventures

Terms of use

Nom Nom, by Castlebury Ventures. Effective 30 September 2026.

These are the terms for using Nom Nom.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

Nom Nom is made by 15865468 Canada Inc., operating as Castlebury Ventures — "we" and "us" on this page. These terms cover the Nom Nom app and the connector that lets an AI assistant work with your household. What we store, and why, is in the privacy policy.

By using Nom Nom you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it. For the iPhone app, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies.

2. Your account and your household

You sign in with a Google account, with Apple on iPhone, or with an email address. An account is created when you sign up with an email address, or the first time you sign in with Google or Apple with an email address that isn't already on an account.

Your recipes, plan, shopping list and pantry belong to a household, which everyone you invite shares. Each person in a household has a role:

  • Admin — uses and changes the household's data, and can remove members.
  • Member — uses and changes the household's data.
  • Viewer — can read the household's data but not change it.

You can delete your account from inside the app. When the last member with a sign-in leaves a household or deletes their account, the household's data is deleted. Section 4 says what happens to a purchase.

3. Acceptable use

Use Nom Nom to plan, cook and shop for your household. Do not:

  • try to reach another household's data, or do anything your role does not allow;
  • interfere with the app, its connector or the services behind them;
  • use it to break the law, or add content you have no right to share.

4. The free period and purchases

The free period

Every new household starts with a free period of 30 days. If you create a household while you are an admin or member of another household that is on its free period, or whose free period ended without a purchase, the new household's free period ends when the other one's does — or has already ended.

Households that existed before the free period was introduced are free for life.

When a free period ends and nobody has bought Nom Nom for the household, or, after the free period, a yearly plan ends or is on hold or paused, or a lifetime purchase is refunded, new recipes cannot be added to it. Everything already in it keeps working: the plan, the shopping list, the pantry, cooking, history, members, export and deletion.

What you can buy

Nom Nom is sold through Google Play on Android and the App Store on iPhone, never on this website. There are two products:

  • Yearly plan — renews automatically each year until you cancel it, or, for a plan bought through Google Play, until it's stopped as described under Cancelling and switching.
  • Lifetime — paid once. It never renews.

The app shows you the store's price before you buy.

One purchase covers the whole household. Any admin or member can buy it; viewers and restricted members cannot. A lifetime purchase stays with the household when the person who bought it leaves, is removed or deletes their account.

Cancelling and switching

Cancelling follows the rules of the store the plan was bought from. On Android, cancel the yearly plan in Google Play › Payments & subscriptions. On iPhone, only the person who pays can cancel it, in their iPhone's Settings › their name › Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and the household keeps access to the end of the period already paid for.

For a plan bought through Google Play, we also ask Google to stop its next payment when the person who pays for it leaves the household, is removed from it or deletes their account, and when the household is deleted, including when its last member with a sign-in leaves or deletes their account. Google says a plan stopped this way can't be restored. If the household stays, it keeps access to the end of the period already paid for, and then needs a new subscription. From version 145, the app says so before any of these, and says when the paid period ends if it can.

For a plan bought through the App Store, we can't: leaving, being removed, deleting an account or deleting the household doesn't stop it. Apple keeps charging the person who pays until they cancel it. The app says so before any of these.

A household on the yearly plan can switch to lifetime. On Android, switching stops the yearly plan from renewing; if the app cannot stop it, it tells you, and you cancel it in Google Play yourself. On iPhone, switching doesn't stop the yearly plan: cancel it yourself in your iPhone's Settings › your name › Subscriptions.

Payment and refunds

On Android, Google handles payment, tax collection and refunds, under Google Play's policies. On iPhone, Apple handles payment and refunds, under the App Store's policies. Refunds are handled by the store you bought from, under its refund policy, except as section 7 describes. We never see your card details.

5. AI assistants

Connecting your own assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to your household is your choice. Once connected, it can read and change what your role in the household allows, and nothing more.

We record which member's assistant connected, the name the assistant gives itself, and when it first and last connected.

An assistant is run by another company, not by us. We are not responsible for what a third-party assistant does with data you let it read.

6. Recipes and content

You own what you add. You let us store it and show it to your household so that Nom Nom can work.

The recipe library is licensed to you for use within the app.

Allergen and nutrition information is best-effort. It can be wrong or missing, and must not be relied on for medical decisions.

7. If Nom Nom shuts down

This section is our refund policy if we close Nom Nom. It is a policy, not a guarantee, and it applies to the extent permitted by applicable law.

  • Notice. We will give at least 60 days' notice, in the app and by email, and provide a data export.
  • Yearly plan. Refunded pro rata for the unused days of the current period.
  • Lifetime. Refunded pro rata over a three-year term from purchase: two-thirds of the price if within the first year, one-third within the second, and none after three years.
  • How refunds are made. On a best-effort basis, through the original payment method via Google Play or the App Store where the store's tools allow, and otherwise directly. We do not guarantee refunds where the company's assets do not permit them.
  • Households that paid nothing. Founder households, which are free for life, and households on their free period have paid nothing and are owed nothing.

8. Limitation of liability

Nom Nom is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law:

  • our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Nom Nom in the previous 12 months;
  • we are not liable for indirect loss;
  • the company's directors, officers, shareholders and contractors are not personally liable to you.

Your consumer-protection rights are not affected. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act (Ontario) or, if you live in Quebec, the Consumer Protection Act (Quebec).

9. Changes, ending, and contact

Changes

If these terms change, the effective date at the top changes with them, and the changelog below records what changed.

Ending

You can stop using Nom Nom at any time, and delete your account from inside the app. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario.

Later still, the same day — we now ask Google to stop a yearly plan's next payment when the person paying leaves, is removed or deletes their account, or the household is deleted; a lifetime purchase stays with the household; after the free period, a yearly plan that ends or is on hold or paused, or a refunded lifetime purchase, locks new recipes as an ended free period does. 30 September 2026 — the iPhone app: Sign in with Apple, the App Store, and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement; a yearly plan bought through the App Store is cancelled only by the person who pays; refunds by the store you bought from; the company's city and province removed.
