Privacy policy
Nom Nom, by Castlebury Ventures. Effective 1 September 2026.
Nom Nom is a meal planner. It stores your recipes, your plan and your shopping list so that your household can share them. That is the whole purpose, and this page says exactly what that means.
What we store
Your account
An account identifier, and an email address if you added one. You can use the app without giving an email at all — it signs you in anonymously on first launch — and if you later add an email and password, or link a Google account, we store what is needed to sign you back in.
Your household's data
Shared with everybody you have invited to your household:
- recipes you add, import, or copy from the shared library;
- the meals on your plan, which carry no dates;
- your shopping list — items, quantities, which shop each belongs to, and what has been ticked off;
- your shops and their aisle order, and any notes you record against an ingredient;
- who is in the household and what they may do;
- if you turn it on: a record of meals you logged as eaten, and short profiles for household members used to size portions. Both are optional and off unless you enable them.
What stays on your phone
Some things never leave the device and are not backed up by us: what you have ticked as already in your cupboard, your theme and text-size choices, how you have chosen to group the shopping list, which onboarding tips you have dismissed, and which suggestions you have told the app to stop making. Reinstalling the app clears them.
Assistant activity
If you connect an AI assistant, we record its name and the time it last used your household's connector, so the app can show you what has access. We do not store the conversations, the questions or the answers.
What we do not do
- No advertising. There are no ads and no ad networks.
- No analytics. The app contains no analytics, telemetry or crash-reporting SDK. We do not know which screens you open.
- We never sell or share your data with anybody for their own purposes.
- No location, no contacts, no photos, no microphone. The app does not ask for them and does not use them.
- No dates. The plan is deliberately undated. The app never asks what day you intend to cook something and has nowhere to store one.
Who processes it for us
Two services, and nothing else:
- Supabase — the database and sign-in that hold everything above.
- Railway — hosts the connector that AI assistants talk to. It passes requests through to Supabase and stores nothing of its own.
Both are used as processors: they hold the data on our behalf and do not use it for their own purposes.
AI assistants
Connecting an assistant is something you do, deliberately, from a computer — it is never automatic and there is nothing connected by default. Once connected, the assistant can read and change the household you connected it to, and nothing else. Your other households are not visible to it.
You disconnect it in the assistant's own settings, where you connected it. The app cannot see that happen, which is why the list it shows is a record of activity rather than a list of live connections, and says so.
Your data, and getting rid of it
- Export: Settings › Account › Download my data. It writes CSV files you keep.
- Delete: Settings › Account, and delete your account. Step-by-step instructions are on the deletion page, including what to do if you have lost access to the app.
Deleting your account removes your account and the data belonging to it. Household data that other members still use stays with them, which is what "shared" means — leaving a household does not delete their recipes.
Children
Nom Nom is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
